the main reason, money. i am a poor tech school student and have been unemployed since feb. that and i want to see what i can do with the ea82t. once i get outta school and blow the motor, which i hope doesnt happen, i will then try for a wrx swap, i think the sti swap would be massive overkill. besides, i already have most of the parts i need to do what i have planned, i just need a few more things. mainly i need a custom header for the turbo since it has a different inlet flange than the vf7 that hte car currently has. then i am going to try using injectors from an ej22 and possible a s-afc, if it works for this car. if anyone wants to make a donation to getting a few parts on this car, ill gladly agree. if i had the money, i would convert my 2.5rs into a 22b sti.

its always good to have a plan, im not sure how it will turn out, im kinda treading in unexplored territory on this. but if it turns sounding anything like my friend's wrx, ill be bouncing off the walls with excitment. i need to get a few more things working right before i can register the car and get through the upgrade proccess.

this reminds me, i need to call some people about getting the parts i need.

well, there is some good news in the epic of the ghetto sti. i have finally found employment, and thus the rx is back on the road, now it just needs inspection and emissions so that i can start the conversion, well, that an i need to get my td04 back from my friend. now that i have money again, this should be done by feb or so. i am starting to spray the car in a low gloss black, mainly to get the car to be one color after all the rust patching i had to do.

well, i fixed the high beam switch, turned out that screww was too long and contacting the terminal for the hi beams. as for the u-joint, i think that i might be getting it fixxed today if i can find $50 some where. the car is still drivabl, even with the u-joint all unbalanced, i just have to pull on the range lever to keep it from hitting the exhaust. oncce i get that fixed though, inspection and upgrades.

i dont know how much of a sleeper it will be with an '04 hood scoop and possibly some sort of wing, possible sti style. but it wont be rice, it will actually go fast.i need to save some money cause i found a good deal on some used sti and wrx parts that i can use for the car, but that will come shortly.

peace
tim

i have completely lost count on the hours invested. it was pretty much every day after work for 4 months, then when i got it home, there were hours upon hours of rust repair, then there was hunting gremlins through the car. then there are tthe parts waiting to go on it. spent hours in the junk yard or online sourcing parts, then hours cleaning, prpping, and painting the junk yard parts. i still need to paint the car (low gloss black, high temp, ceramic spray paint) and the rims (bronze looking color) then i gotta color the interior parts, like the dash and door pannels. i got the dupli-color interior carpet and vinyl paint. in theory, it should look good when i get done. trying to determine wheather or not to get an adjustable aluminum wing, a sti wing, or go wingless.

well, as usual, with any good luck come twice as much bad. i was driving home from work the other day and the intake plenum (metal part between turbo and throttle boby) came off. apparently i hadnt secured the clamp. that was the least of i though, i noticed oil everywhere in the intake, most likely coming from the turbo. all the more reason to get the td04 back from my friend. then, last night, i was trying to replace the air box with a cone filter, i have two options on that, hks filter and elbo from a supra, in which the plastic on the fitler is broken but will be replacd, or a cheap steel mesh filter i picked up at advanced auto. i am thinking that the hks will be the best bet on this, the elbow is almost 90* but also like a velocity staack, where it goes from 4" down to 3" at the end. i think i need to get a custom intake made for the car at a race shop, but i need something that ill be able to use when i install the larger turbo.eh, ill just talk to the guys at MSP, they know their go fast bits, they do have the fastest 1/4 mile time for an import i believe.

oh well, ill check back in later to update how things go

peace

well, i kinda killed the hks filter, and got my money back for it. i had to replace the turbo inlet hose because it crumbled from being old. hello home depot and pep boys. made myself a temporary home-brewed intake for the car. it makes a huge difference compared to stock. but the car is leaking oil into the intake from places unknown. i really need to fix that, but i havent got ht e time or money for it at the moment.

oh well, more to come
