i saw this in a Impreza Magazine for japan and i guess you can convert any Impreza from a AWD to a front engine rear wheel drive. you could also do this for the WRX. all you need to do is change the center diff and rear diff, pull out the front CV joints.

AWD drifts require alot of power. What the Impreza's are known for is there high speed drifts. (that's the only time they can truly shine as they are able to break there traction) Anywho, I'm in the works to make mine rear wheel drive. I'm shopping around on different difs, there are ups and downs which ever way you go. AWD is Awesome anyway you try to look at it. But, rear wheel is too much FUN!!

i already been drifting my car with some of the drift cars here at hachinoe fishing port. Like slivias and 180, supras and RX7s. some other WRXs and Evo go drifting here to at the pad....... all i learn is that AWD drifting is to much work and parts brake fast. with rear wheel drive is so much easier and alot more fun.

The reason I said those things is beacuse its been based on my experiences. I used to drift my old 180 with no problems whatsoever with very little mods to it. Today I drive an RS-T, I can drift it. There is enough power to loose traction on low end unfortunetly it is not as agile as it would be rear wheel.
But hey! thats my point of view. many people feel different. That's just my way of expressing it. Anywho if I wanted to build a track car then AWD is definitely the way to go!! Still not sure of what I'm doing yet about the drivetrain. Ounce my car is 100% tuned I will know for sure of the future steps to be taken.
