Exhaust system advice!

Hey all,

I would like to replace my current exhaust (HKS) and OEM down-pipe with another exhaust system that would give me Suby's deep rumble but relatively low (not to wake up every single cop in the street, tone is required not level). I heard that tone on many suby's but i wounder what set up these guys are running.

Just to keep in mind my Sti is spec-c and twin scroll turbo.

I would appreciate any past experience opinion or any sort of advice.

Thanks!

Well the rumble comes from the headers. Specifically the unequal length single tube uppipe that is usually on the WRX and STi. For twin scroll, the exhaust is routed differently and might not be very unequal in length. The flow gets better the closer to equal lengths that you get, but you lose that signature rumble.

Flipping through YouTube, it doesn't sound like twin scrolls have a lot of rumble.

Spec Cs won't have a Subaru rumble. They have equal length headers.

It is a Spec C. Sound would not be a good reason to switch to UEL.

Appreciating all inputs.

So you guys mean if i stick to twin scroll equal length i will never get what i am aiming to?

What difference will i note if i switch to UEL in terms of performance etc. (else than sound) and what is better, if any difference?

You can't run a UEL on a VF37.

Did not know that; interesting. Why is that? I only know one person who has a Spec C motor, and I never looked too closely at the underside of it.

The flanges on both ends of the up-pipe are different than single scroll WRX/STI up-pipes. Twin scroll up-pipes, stock and aftermarket, have 2 separate pipes that feed all the way thru from the header rather than a 1-2 split design. Anything would have to be custom, and I'm not sure of anyone who would spend that amount of money required to make a custom header just to negate the positives of twin scroll in the 1st place.
