esousa22's slow transformation of a 2004 WRB WRX
How she sits today 1/25/13
Feel free to ask questions, have positive or negative comments, make a statement, whatever!
I've decided to start a thread on it just for the hell of it and for people to ask questions and learn about little things here and there with my responses or other peoples responses on my thread.
My "build" is going to be a long and slow process, I've had it for a year and have had 2 different exhaust, got '11 wrx wheels, mudflaps, springs, and a couple stickers to add some hp LOL( thanks to Jourdan for one). I play on keeping this car for the rest of my life and in 5-8 years have it be my garage queen with fender flares, wideass tires with real rubber. I'm a function kind of guy, I gotta admit though, low n slow and slammed like a few guys on here, rodriguez, low_lifestyle(rob?), java_black from sac, naveed, and a few other cars I've seen look pretty damn clean!(lemme know if you guys want me to take down your names, just post your usernames, whatever) But I drive the sh*t outta mine a couple times a month through some hills and I'm sure their cars can do just fine but I prefer to have something bigger than 225/235/245 on a 9.5/10 inch tire just to give myself a piece of mind, not have to buy tires as frequently and for the added rubber contact.
Plans:
Coilovers
Fender Flares, hopefully karltons
Some 17 or 18x9.5's or 10's
top mount, not front mount
corn juice since there are a few places in the bay area. one 3 miles from me
upgrade the brake system to brembos or another BBK
I put my whole car build plans in an excel document with links and prices for what I plan on getting but of course some things will change here and there.
Here is a screenshot of my excel document
date of purchase, 9/10/11
before right before the trunk swap, new addition being mach v springs and hks tbe
before, new addition CF trunk
11/21/12 RA mudflaps, 11' wrx wheels, continental dws, invidia dp, cobb replica catback
Worked on the car yesterday 1/12/13 after work and then again late last night until 2. Swapped the tails to 07's with tint, took off my trunk and drilled the holes on the trunk arms to give me more adjustability because it was never aligned right and wired up a sub/amp by tapping into the oem sub.
tails and trunk off
Had to use pliers and squeeze the tabs on the light bulb socket tabs to get them to slide into the tail light housing with ease. Also had to break a couple tabs off to get them in. I think I broke 3 tabs off on each tail light. 2 on one bulb socket and 1 on another bulb socket, one socket I didnt require modification and the other just needed some plier squeezing.
Tails on, 07's with tint overlay, dont know how dark, bought them off a member
trunk on
it was pretty damn cold last night so my buddy brought a little portable heater over that we put in the back seat LOL
when I took out the stereo, I noticed these two plugs not being use, WTF are they!?
Heres how the aftermarket 8" bass tube got wired in, the bass tube has a built in amp. It need 12v constant, 12v remote(accessory/ignition), ground, and the red and white RCA cables to run the sub and amp. Instead of running two power wires, we used one constant and installed a switch underneath the passenger seat so it doesn't drain my battery. I couldnt find any wiring diagrams that matched every single wire behind my stereo so I just said fckit.
pinout for the oem subwoofer
With the left/right, I cut off the RCA plugs and the outer wire is the (-) and the inner shielded wire is (+)
-Both wires in the red RCA cable went to right positive(inner wire) and negative(outer wire)
-Left used the white RCA wires
-12v constant from oem sub I used one wire that I stripped to expose about an inch and a half of wire and bent a "U" in.
-Grounded the sub to a screw under the passthrough if you take the lower portion of the rear seat out.
The sub is in the trunk, tucked all the wires under the carpet/under the rear seat and ran them to the trunk.
Installed the on/off switch under the passenger seat where I can reach and not have it seen. The switch was connected to the one power wire that went to the aftermarket sub.
Found out on 1/20/13 that my shocks are blown, heres a video of one of them.

Purchased Megan Racing Coilovers, they arrived 1/24/13 once I got the delivery confirmation email I left work and did the install with a couple buddies. Yes it was raining LOL
Installed:
3/18/13
Installed Borla Hush Catback
