E30 Project
Veh: 1984 BMW 318I.
Our goal with this project is to implement the now "true" 1.8 Litr E30, with the T04E Turbo charger, for engine management we will be using self tuned Mega Squirt2 micro controllers.
Difficulties we had faced regarding the E30, the very rare supply of after market parts for this vehicle, such as turbo headers and pullies. Recent access to CNC machines have really helped the project set sail. Reassuring that the finised product will be a one of a kind.
Currently we are waiting on the production of our headers, plans and design are complete except for minor changes which may be made in the near future. We hope our Symetrical Turbo Header design will not let us down, we are expecting to have that done within 2 weeks of this post. We are also expecting our Intake Manifold to be completed/purchased(undecided) soon (2-3 weeks). All forged parts; Pistons, Rods were custom made by JE.
Due to low but creeping budgets Buck (brain/owner) didnt just go out and buy anything he needed, insted he decided to at any means necessary but reasonable salvage anything he could from the original motor and put hours of labor into cleaning, bead blasting, and restoring parts.
We are taking this project one day at a time, we have been doing very good on progress, however we still have a lot of work to do, suspension, rims, tires are still to be decided. $$$ is whats holding us back.
The order of the photos in the Album below are not arranged in any specific order, however clear enough for you to see our steps in progress. ENJOY!

EDIT: Some of the Dates appearing on the photos below may not be correct. (Specifically the ones dated 2003)

i love to see somebody trying to put stupid amounts of power through an M10 and especially in an old bimmer. that has to be one of the most stout engines ever made by bmw. when i had my 320i, i'd rev it up to redline many, many times a day, and even with 333,000 on the clock, it ran beautifully.
also love the e30 you got for that project, great cars too

Were are expecting 1 million whp....
No not really, we just dont know, time will tell my friend. I have seen relatively close setups pushing around 270whp, but nothing like this.

Fuel rail, injectors(42pnds), throttle body, Intake Manifold is all complete.
For engine management we got the megasquirt running stable (for now we will fire up the car and break it in one step at a time starting with a base map)
