Scratch the T1R and add Hankook RS2s and Falken RT615s.
never had any experience with the Hankook RS2, but i super dislike the RT615. not because it doesnt grip, dont get me wrong. They're a lot higher grip than a lot of tires that i tried, but the reason why i dont like them is because they dont last the whole 20-30 minute sessions AND they wear quick. T1R's may not have as much initial grip, but it's soooooo much more predictable throught the entire session AND it does not heat up as much.

Haha. Hard not to be a cheap ass when you don't have any money to start with. Haha. I don't mind helping drop stuff in. That's easy... compared to the wiring. :p

Haha. I actually looking into sourcing a tranny. I was talking to my friend last week and we are looking into sourcing a JDM 4.11 5-speed and all the accessories. Pedal assembly, driveshaft, tranny, diff, shift linkage, etc. We'll have to play with the numbers, but it might be possible.

I've used RT615s on the track and never had issues. The tire I'll never take again are the Goodyear GSD3s. The compound is fine but the tread pattern is bad if you allow any slip angle.

So... I should peel my remaining Goodyears off my summer set and replace them with something else?? :p

To replacing my one bad one... $170 OTD.

The Rs2's are fine with me. I actually like them better than my older Azenises. I get more grip from them through all the runs. With the Azenises, they'd heat up fast and by my second to third run, I loose grip.

I would probably be looking for a tire a little more geared toward auto-x'ing since that is something I plan to be doing more often. Still long ways until tires. At very earliest, December, but unlikely. I am thinking about a new set before the new auto-x season starts, but it all depends on finances.

Dude you can get a set of RS2s for barely more than twice that. But the Goodyears are okay for autocross if you don't overdrive them, just don't take them to the track once you're comfortable at the limits of your tires there.

darkonion 10-23-2007 04:16 PM

Yeah. Seriously. That's why I don't want to do that unless I have to.

tamashi523 10-23-2007 04:19 PM

dude go baller style with ur car and get hooked up with some 18x9.5 with 35et rota torque's and add some fender flares that be too cool for school.

darkonion 10-23-2007 04:28 PM

Haha. STX requires me to run nothing bigger than 245's and 8" width wheels and not allowed to flare fenders either. Haha.

I'll be Auto-X'ing in Oakland on Sunday.

Here are some things I would like to take care of before the end of the year.

1. Install Rear Lateral Links
2. Fix hood
3. Front Pads and Rotors
4. Front Camber Bolts (Stripped a camber bolt. Going to replace that.)

I wonder if I should invest in SpeedBleeders. That could make things go a little easier. A few more questions for you all.

1. What brake pads do you guys recommend?
2. Does anyone have EZ Out or know how to pull a broken bolt using a screw extractor?

... and buy my aem intake ;)

darkonion 10-27-2007 11:14 AM

Hehe. I don't know if it'll fit. Keep in mind that I have to get that MAF sensor in there somehow. Hehe. It'll be better than my Ebay Intake though.
