sweet +1 for rolled fenders

Thanks Steven. Now the question is... what size tires can I fit. Who wants to lend me their wheels/tires?

Here is a prototype of some magnet designs I am working on.

The question is do you have power to make use of the wider tires?

>_<

I am sure I can run 225's without too much trouble. The thing is that it is hard to find competition tires in 215/45/17. RT615 starts at 225. RE-01R's 215/45 is way more expensive than 225/45. Besides... I am not really allowed to run anything bigger than 245 and to be honest, I don't know if 235 will even clear.

Kev,
You can test fit my 225 Hankooks if you want but they're on 16's.

Kevin M 10-22-2007 10:19 PM

You want 235/40s. The shorter diameter makes up for the extra width, plus slightly increases torque to the ground and it's the right diameter for an L.

Speaking of that size, there was a guy from the Reno region that was trying to sell me his Advan Neova's. Haha. Said he won DSP this year or something like that. Seems like a nice guy.

Kevin M 10-23-2007 08:33 AM

That would be Derrick, and he won ESP in a 2.0 liter WRX at altitude. :) His Advans would be sweet tires for you.

darkonion 10-23-2007 11:24 AM

Yeah. Totally. I told him that I'll ask again in a few months. Still go to save up that amount first. Those Neova's are super sticky, and super expensive as well. Haha.

dunnojack 10-23-2007 11:37 AM

dude, kev, just throw down the money for either some really sticky tires, or something that will work decent at the track and still last long.... therefore, i'd say the tires to choose from would be....

Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R or Toyo T1R.

dunnojack 10-23-2007 11:38 AM

oh yeah, i still have the sti cross memeber.... and a 2.0L motor.... you know what that means right...?

darkonion 10-23-2007 11:44 AM

Hehe. Yes I do. If you want to put it in for me... :p

Yeah. I've heard great things about the RE-01R's. The Neova's are nice as well, but you are right, they do wear quicker. Those Neova's are $200 a tire. A little pricey. We'll have to see though. I still need to figure out what size tires I can run. I figure I borrow a few people's sets and run on them for a day or two to get an idea.

Scratch the T1R and add Hankook RS2s and Falken RT615s.

dunnojack 10-23-2007 12:15 PM

cheap ass... i'll do the labor for you, thats fine. just get the rest and have some power already!
