This was only my first ever auto x in attendance...and it's much more fun than watching cars go down the 1320!!!

is it just me... or is that rear wheel lifted on that GTi?

Sure is VW can lift a wheel easy..I had a 88 Cabriolet that could lift a inside tire no problem of course it was slammed to the ground...

 

A lot of better handling prepared and modified front wheel drive auto-x cars are somewhat designed to lift the back wheels in turns. Helps shift more weight where its needed (over the drive wheels) and helps to rotate the cars better.

 

The wheel lift is known throughout the VW community as the VW 3 wheel motion

if i were to name the 3 wheel thing....i would call it the "dogwater shuffle" because it reminds me of a dog lifting its leg to pee...
