Exclamation 2002 2.5 in wrx swap

I just bent 2 valves in my cylinder heads. My car is down for the count till i find a good machine shop to port and polish my cylinder heads. I have a fresh low miles 2.5 RS motor from a 2002 just sitting there going to waste. My question is this ?since the 2.5 already comes with more HP and TQ than a 2.0 (without turbo) would it be safe to assume that I could run my car with low boost and make about the same HP.I plan to install all my upgrades on this motor and retune it afterward.(vf34,STI injectors ,frontmount IC,flywheel etc) I know this motor won't rev like the DOHC engine being a SOHC engine but it should still run better than stock.

it could.. you'd have a harder time boosting on that motor. i've heard of people swapping 2.5 sti shortblocks into those.. giving it a stronger bottom end, then just build the head maybe.. i'm not too sure though

if you add a turbo to the na motor, don't plan on having it as reliable as a 2.0l turbo motor, by anymeans at all. i gaurantee it wouldn't last long

i know it won't be as reliable as stock but it should run half way decent. I was planning to run it on low boost an hit it with a 50 shot just once in a while I have no real plans of doing anything internal to this thing for now just want to get the car back on the road. But on the other hand any one know if that block and crank are the same as an STIs. and if so can I just slap on my wrx heads on that block (after changing rods and pistons) and basically have a poor mans STI

why dont you just run the rs motor while you get the wrx motor rebuilt? sounds a bit cheaper w/ all the money you'd be spending fabricating a tubo kit vs. rebuild + upgrades

for the money you would spend on upgrading the 2.5 (turbo, etc....) plus the swap you'll spend over $3k.

Why not put that money into your WRX motor and buy a beater car for $300 while the work is getting done.

Then when your WRX is done blow the thing up or do something stupid, just make sure there is video tape proof.
