The TR's are the only one that come with black mirrors (Other than the Black cars)
And I guess it is one of those valuable trade offs for the TR's sticker price....

install is not bad at all, but yes you have to drill three holes...
with some mechanical knowledge it took me about 30 minutes to do the install

Isn't the whole point of the TR to be "Tuner Ready"? To come with very few/minimal factory niceties since you are going to replace them with a bunch of aftermarket parts anyway? They probably assume that you would replace the mirrors with aftermarket ones.
Just my take on the TR.

Arrgh, the wheels on the 06 Impreza models are the ugliest wheels Subaru has ever shipped. Those look like junk from a Toyota Camry. If I ever buy one, I'm going to make the dealer buy the rims back from me before the car leaves the lot.
