another note: any reason why you guys would even want a 4100k bulb?

Yes. A 4100k bulb is the best you can get in terms of actual light output and I personally wouldnt use anything else. . If you want it slightly more white, the osram xenarcs put out the same amount of light, but are closer to 5000k. Phillips does not make a 5100k bulb, only uber expensive 6000k ultinonsBUt again, the higher you go, the less light you get

If you are after that pretty blue/purple flicker you see in BMW/MBZ/audi, its not the bulbs (they use 4100k), its the projector that produces the color.
