Maybe but it's a fairly low milage turbo, maybe 30K miles on it but it runs great except for the fact that sometimes the needle hits 11 or 12PSI and it just freezes there, exactly like it would if somebody twisted the **** on the MBC a turn to the left. Boost builds quickly as it should (full boost by 3K RPM) so I don't think it's a leak or WG issue, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: actually sometimes it will spike a little at first. So if it's going to boost to 16 it might pass 16 and hit 18 for a split second and then jump back to 16

I'd point to wastegate. I had a similar issue where mine would never hold boost or act sporatic and I did a boost leak test and it was fine everytime. I changed hella hosing, intercooler even still couldnt find it. Finally changed to an AVO wastegate and have been good and holding more boost to redline

Interesting. It could be the WG actuator now that you mention it.

Anyone have any idea of what the flashing CEL with no code stored was?

Someone on Nasioc says that's active misfires. Just one guy's opinion. Can anyone help me fact check it?

A friend is sending me a stock BPV. A boost leak explains the intermittent boost drop and subsequent bad logs/flashing CEL.

My friend says a flashing CEL can also be cam sensor, like if your timing belt skipped a tooth...but alas, mine was probably misfire caused by an overcooked turbo trying to compensate for a boost leak, that's the theory anyway.

Damn Cody, sorry to hear you're having issues. Wish I could offer some advice, but this goes way beyond my basic knowledge.
If by some miracle I'm able to afford an 18g anytime soon I'll give you a great deal on my td04 (only 3k break in miles so far)

Thanks man! I'll get it figured out, even if I have to take it to a shop.

Curious if you have any updates. I have been having a similar issue with my car...tracked it and now having boost spikes at WOT. Replaced all vacuum lines but no luck.

I theorized it was the bypass valve since that explains the intermittent lowered boost and misfires and a log that caused my tuner to say, "From the log he sent me I still suspect a boost leak as his MAF V is high and IDC's are way past 100%. From the log I saw, the ECU was also pulling quite a bit of timing up top. I believe this tune has been on his car for over 5 years now and has never had issues before."

But my car didn't have a boost leak and worked fine when I brought it to him. He even put it on the dyno and he said my tune was essentially perfect, only had to tweak it a touch.

So I bought a used BPV and installed it (along with a new gasket) and the car feels fine, but I still need to log a 3rd gear pull again. Planning to do that ASAP.

Hope it turns out well with the log. Sounds like it's working a little bit better though with the new bypass valve. Still trying to see if I just start replacing things like the wastegate, ebcs, bypass valve or just bring it in to a shop. Still don't know how a track day can make my car run the way it has though.
