WTB: Waist spoiler

Anyone have one for sale? I want to change up the lines on the back of the wagon. There's a place in the UK that fabricates them but thought I'd ask before going that route.

pick up the one off Ebay (seller is in HK)...I think it's $169 primed shipped, $269 painted shipped...looks good, I've been thinking of that route too. That's for an FRP version...They also sell a CF version for $269

I had a stencil showing the holes for my sti limited wing. I was nervous too just make sure you start with a smaller hole so you dont distort the metal around the hole.

use a spring loaded center punch when drilling into sheetmetal (or any material for that matter )...prevents your pilot drill from wandering.

I'll eventually pick up the Ebay waist spoiler...been following the seller for the past 3+ years...he's dropped the price on that spoiler at least $100.

Although the waist spoiler is pretty inexpensive...I need to focus on some maintenance (almost 230k) before the cosmetics.

I'd be careful using an STI wing stencil because the Ebay wing could be a little off. Best to just make the template directly from the wing.

-Slap a piece of copy paper on the mounting surface (use double stick tape or Super77 spray adhesive).

-Use the side of a pencil (or crayon) and rub/impression the mounting surface's edge...

-use the pencil and pop a hole through the paper where the holes are...you can use an Xacto blade and trim around the hole to be more accurate.

-put double stick tape (or Super77 spray adhesive) on the opposite side of the template (the side you just traced/rubbed-not the side that was mounted to the wing's mount)

-position/center your wing..press down making sure the surface mounts have good contact

-slowly pull the spoiler away from the paper template...the template should stick to your car because of the double stick tape

-use a spring loaded center punch to mark your center

-drill a pilot hole

-enlarge the hole as needed

-forgot...you might want to remove the interior hatch door car/molding before drilling- lol

-pretty simple....the key is having the right type of hardware/screws/bolts AND gasket material to seal from leaks and vibration.
