Like the title states. I am doing this for a co-worker. Ever since I started working at my work me and my supervisor have talked about subarus. I found out that he like them alot and was planning on buying a new suby soon. I told him I used to have and STi and wanted to get back into a suby (an STi to be exact) so when i found the right one I purchased it and have been working on it like crazy ever since...
All the work I was doing to my car got him wanting to work on his car ( he purchased a 2.5i silver hatch 2010 from subaru of Santa Cruz) and would like to start off by lowering his car. He looked at the cobb spring and liked them...but throw me some offers and ill let him know.

FYI: You know those OEM struts on 08+ 2.5i CANNOT handle lowering springs, right? I heard even Subaru's own SPT Pinks (only lowering 10mm) are blowing OEM struts!
If your co-worker wants to improve handling, get some REAL tires & rear sway bar (since 08+ 2.5i doesn't come w/ ANY & of course rear endlinks will be needed as well)... best bang for the bucks! If he/she wants the look, get some coilovers.

is it only the 2.5i's that blow struts or is it wrx's and sti's? I wanted to get some Eibach lowering spring for my car and didn't plan on getting new struts.

Most of them I heard were 08 WRX (some were lucky) but 2.5i has the same soft struts. 09+ WRX has improved springs & struts.

I guess then, try and get some 09 struts from someone on here, or try ebay. Then look into springs or coilover sleeves. But don't cut the springs.
Well bump for you calisuby.

Ummm... I have Swift Sport Springs on my 2.5i and my struts aren't blown.
Been on them for almost 20,000 miles now. I will agree that the dampening sucks *****, but they are definitely not blown.

For some reason, I'm not worried. At all. Given the quality of the roads I drive on a daily basis and the way I drive them, I am certain that I have put my suspension through the paces. Unless I really jump my car (not just unload it like I have) or do something retarded like hit a curb, I think my struts are going to be fine.

Not necessarily. The 2.5i's all have the same struts at the '08 WRX. Once Subaru realized that the dampening was too poor for a "sports" car they put in new struts that are valved the same way as STi struts. Essentially the '09+ WRX has STi suspension and can handle STi Pink springs. where as the older struts, the STi Pink springs are too stiff for and cause the strut to blow. If you have springs that are designed for the '08 struts *cough*likeswifts*cough* then all should be well in the world.

Don't get me wrong that I'm against lowering springs... I want to lower my car as well but I want something that doesn't cost $1k+ & won't blow the struts, either. I HATE that gap on my fenders!!!
