WTB: Auto Cross Helmet

Before I buy new online just checking if anyone has a new helmet they want to get rid of? I think I need a Medium or a Large helmet as my hat size is 7 3/8th. Can pickup locally or at the Vajayjay meet!

Helmet fitment is very different from hat fitment.

Go to Cycle Gear or any other shop that sells helmets and try them on. Each brand is very different, and a medium in one might be a large in another.

As long as it is DOT and SNELL stamped you can use it for Autocross. An inexpensive motorcycle helmet is perfect.

I would never recommend ordering a helmet online without trying them on first.

My 2 cents.

If you plan on doing any track days in the future, buy a SA2010 rated helmet.

Your best bet is to just go to autox and use a helmet to see what fits. You don't have to be tight because you're not on a motorcycle

I got one online and hate the fitment. Pyrotec openface size M. Went by hat size and it is way to small for my head. You are welcome to try it on if you are ever in the Palo Alto area.

This. It would be a PITA to get another one down the road.

Oh and

+1 to getting something that's Sa2010 rated. I also kick myself for getting an open face whenever I try to use it at carting places.

I have an XL helmet if you want to try it.

just remember that AutoX will require a Snell rated helmet. You can use a M or SA rated helmet. Tracks will require SA.

I have a M2010. I should have gotten a SA.

This is a great helmet for the price. I have the same hat size you do, and a size Large fit perfectly.

You can search for coupons and usually save another $20.

^ I think $300 is about the bottom line for a SA2010 helmet. I bought my Simpson for about that, maybe a little less.

Simpson Racing - Voyager [410] - $299.95 :
