WTB - 99-01 RS SOHC Engine

just looking for the short block (complete heads & block with all internals + oil pan) from a 99-01 SOHC RS.

i have all the accessories, intake & exhaust parts and equipment.

i can come and pick it up myself.

if the engine is fully disassembled, that would be ideal so i can inspect it before putting down $ on it.

i was under the impression that a short block was the head(s) + block, whereas a long block assembly would be the above plus all the accessories...

You could use any phase2 2.5 liter block, I'll give you my old 2.5rs rods and crank for a beer. And I'm selling those heads for less than the cost for the rebuild alone. Your call though

how the **** are you destroying so much on your car?

I went 153k before my rod end cap bolt snapped... and that's about it. lol. I'm still on original transmission and rear diff. I have 186k on my car now.

You need to stop flogging your car dude.

the idea and practice of NOT being abusive to my cars (chassis, engine, brakes and tires primarily) is a foreign and bizarre concept that i do not believe i will ever understand or adhere to by any measure... unless a cop is around.

also, part of it is using the wrong parts, which is entirely my own fault (ie. crappy wheel bearings). most of the standard maintenance, i do without thinking. some small things, like checking coolant levels every so often, escapes me UNTIL its a problem... of course, by then, its too late.

by comparison, i am being GENTLE with the RS... my Mr2 on the other hand saw far worse conditions and (honestly) it was more reliable and resilient. never once had any problems, ever, with wheel bearings - and they're originals from 1986. only after 3 years of daily, and near constant, abusive driving did the engine FINALLY blow a head gasket.

heh... i took the Mr2 off-roading thru the mud, jumped it once, spun it out (in the rain) more times than i care to count, wiped out more sets of tires and brake pads than i care to count, blew out a full set of struts, split a rear rotor in half, was shoved off the road into a ditch (partially my own fault) and HUNDREDS of turns just under redline...

in all honesty, with as much as i love the RS, i am not impressed with its reliability factor as of yet... it has been the most problematic car i've ever owned and required the most maintenance.

but, getting another RS engine is just a backup thing. the engine i have right now is working perfectly. but, yeah. i blow stuff up.
