Im just curious if anyone has a Turbo legacy crossmember I can buy locally... The recycler yard up here is fresh out, and its going to be $209 from the dealer (which isnt bad, but still $60 more than the recycler wanted)
So, just curious... btw I tried subaruparts.com but the part number wont pop up.

OK, I'll ask the (potentially) dumb question here.....
As far as I've seen, the only difference between the crossmembers (that matters here) is that the Turbo Legacy (or WRX one) is notched for the Uppipe.
Wouldn't it be fairly easy to just "notch" the current crossmember and weld in reinforcement on the backside of it?
If it is a no-downtime issue, I suspect the junkyard wants quite a bit less than $200 for a stock non-turbo crossmember

Notching it will compromise the integrety of it. Thats like cutting a chunk out of a critical piece in the car that holds all the weight, not a good idea.
But I can have a custom uppipe made, if anyone is willing to make one.

Notice I said Notch AND Reinforce
. If done right, it'd be stronger than the stock (or Turbo Legacy, or WRX) crossmember!
