Not to rain on your parade....but I just finished an instal of a 04 STi TMIC on my 02 WRX....the WRX mounting brackets worked fine.

Hose to the plenium and the hose from the y-pipe to the Turbo are another story.

If you force the brackets yes they will fit but you will strip the threads. I tried it with my STi i/c.

no...no forcing, no stripping.
The drivers side you are supposed to do after you get the passengers side threaded. The passenger brackey (over the turbo) should have two holes in it. The one closest to the wheel well works perfect for the STi intercooler.

I may be wrong though, certain year WRX's and STi intercoolers have different issues that need to be worked around.

IIRC, the USDM STi i/c should not fit on the WRX's stock brackets unless you use zipties or something. However, the JDM V7 STi I/C uses the stock mounting bracket like you said. Maybe you have the JDM one?

i think the usdm sti ic works with wrx brackets if you use different silicone hoses ie a longer tb and a longer elbow.

Yes, if you use aftermarket silicone hose it will fit but that's $100+ .

so youre saying that a usdm ic will fit a wrx perfectly with a stock sti y-pipe and tb hose if you use these brackets? You can come by my house and we can test fit it and if so I'll buy em

I'm not sure I understand your question. Anyways these brackets are for WRX vehicle with an USDM STi i/c. If you have a USDM i/c and what to install in a WRX you will have these to fit or aftermarket i/c hose. If you want to try it before buying I'm fine with that.

so I could install a usdm sti tmic onto my wrx with the usdm stock sti ypipe and a normal tb hose and both the passenger and driver's side holes would line up? Are these custom brackets?

They are not custom brackets, they are stock ones from usdm sti.

I just can't picture how this is possible. As far as I know the tb is longer on an sti thus the wrx needs to have a longer tb hose at least to be able to fit in the stock position. Not sure aobut the elbow though but I think the turbo on the wrx sits further toward the passenger side fender than the sti. where are you located

I really dunno because I haven't got a chance to install it when I had mine sti i/c. I was too lazy to put them in because I already strip mine oem ones when forcing them to fit. I was told and read that these will do the job for wrx folks with a sti i/c install. You can buy them first to see or come by my weekend job in Alameda and we can test fit to see. If they fit like they say then their yours if not I'll trash them or better yet run them over then trash them, lol...
