Returning to 'teh stock'
So I've made the decision to bring my car back to stock. The problem is... I don't have most of my stock parts left. So if you've still got some of your stock stuff, and it's from an 04 WRX, I'm willing to buy it.
Here's the list of stuff I need:
Intake:
Stock intake airbox, hoses, silencer
Stock ram-air scoop
(added) Stock MAF hose / housing
(added) Stock turbo inlet hose
Intercooler Parts:
Intercooler
PCV piping & associated hoses
Intercooler plenum
IC to TB connector hose
Exhaust System:
Stock exhaust manifold w/ heat shields
Stock heat shields (all)
Suspension:
Stock struts / springs
Stock sway bars, mounts and bushings
Stock end links, front
Stock end links, rear
Stock control arm mounts & bushings
Brakes:
Stock front brake rotors, calipers
Stock front brake lines
Turbocharger:
Stock turbocharger
Coolant line, banjo bolts & crush washers
Oil line, banjo bolt & crush washers
Fuel System:
Complete under-manifold fuel rails
Stock fuel injectors (unmodified)
Green Brackets of Death
Cooling:
Stock radiator
Stock radiator hoses (I might have these, I'll have to check)
Stock thermostat (I might have this, again I'll have to check)
Virtually all of the hoses replaced with the Samco 9-piece Hose Kit
Bodywork:
Stock front bumper beam (JBP if possible)
Stock bumper absorber
Stock front bumper cover (JPB, unmodified)
Electrical:
Stock 2004 ECU - I can trade you my 2003 ECU for your 2004
Along with this comes some parts for sale:
APS DR650 FMIC
Perrin Downpipe w/ divorced WG outlet
Vishnu 321 Flex uppipe
Tein FLEX coilovers
Perrin Front Swaybar (black)
Perrin Rear Swaybar (black)
Perrin Rear Endlinks
Pol-Tec Front Endlinks
Stoptech Big Brake Kit (328mmx28mm), front
APS Race fuel system
STi 'Pink' injectors
Hydra standalone engine management system
BBS RGR (silver black, 5x100) 18x8 w/ Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40/18 tires
(added) Blitz SUS intake
Additional info - for those buying the aftermarket parts, the car has 5500 miles on it. So these parts have been used for less than 5000 miles, some of them considerably less (I think the Teins have about 1000 miles or something like that on them). If you have an 04 (or 05 where compatible) and want to trade your stock parts + cash for one of the aftermarket ones, please let me know as I'll certainly consider that.
This list will probably change some, as there's stuff I'm certain I'm forgetting, both that I need and that I'll have for sale. I'll update the list as necessary. Please pm here or email me directly - drjest @ mac.com. Thanks.

BAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what are you doing? You're nuts.
I love your car man. It's set up pretty well right now. plenty fast and very streetable...errrrrrrrrrr. don't do it.
I've got stock rotors off my wagon...they the same as sedans? pretty sure. but you're welcome to them. Still pretty clean. I could ask and see if they still have my stock brake lines...but I doubt they do.
I'd be interested in those front endlinks.
maybe the downpipe, house kit if you want to hook up to swap them..yours for mine. Just drop me a line.

Ok, I'm home for lunch but probably won't have much time to reply to PMs until later this afternoon. Please be patient and I'll respond as soon as I can. Also, none of the aftermarket parts have been removed yet, as I have nothing to replace them with, so there may be a delay in availability.
Several people have asked why I'm doing this. Well, it's pretty simple, actually. First, unless someone's going to pay me $35k for the car as it sits now (yeah, that's what I thought), then this is the best option for maximizing getting my money back out of the car. Second, after a discussion with a local police officer who is also a car enthusiast as it turns out, I'm driving what he described as a 'financial time bomb'. Take this with a grain of salt, as it's heresay from the cop until I can do a little more research and get some hard data on the subject. Third, the value of the 2.0L cars is going to drop dramatically as soon as the '06 models start showing up, since they're all equipped with the 2.5L motors and some of the other STI niceties. Granted, that's some speculation on my part, but that's my feeling on what's going to happen.
So regarding the 'financial time bomb'... As it sits, the car violates both federal and state transportation and emissions laws (duh, we knew that). The federal stuff (like the bumper removal) is serious - if I get caught with out the bumper beam, or the car gets involved in a frontend collision where that fact gets disclosed - minimum $10,000 fine. Oh and if anyone actually gets injured in the process, it gets REALLY expensive. It's highly likely that the damage will not be covered by insurance, as mandatory safety equipment has been removed or modified. Then there's California emissions stuff that I don't really care about, but it's an added hassle none the less. Now, on top of the federal fines, there's state fines for the 11 fix-it tickets (the ones he pointed out, anyways, there's probably more) the car would get if it were inspected. Minimum grand total? $14,000 in fines, not to mention the cost of replacing the parts and whatnot.
Ok, with that all said, I'm not particularly paranoid about this sort of thing, as I don't drive like an a$$hole (most of the time) and I'm pretty careful on the roads. But... if I get pulled over for something stupid, or if I'm involved in an accident that damages the front end, I could be in serious, serious trouble. And at this point, with a family to take care of, I simply can't take that risk. I love my car, I've had a blast building and tuning it, but if I'm going to do something like this again, it's going to be a track car. And I certainly won't start by spending $27k on a new vehicle to do it.
That's the long and short of why I'm sending my 04 WRX back to stock. Chances are I'll end up in an Evo or an STI in relative short order, but I'll have to see where it goes.
Oh and thanks to the mods for moving the post! Wasnt sure where to put it initially.

I'll see which hoses I need to swap out and which ones I still have when I get home from work tonight.
As for why I'm going back to stock... see above.

Thanks Ray!

I have the stock rear sway bar mounts from my MY04. I just sold the rear bar. I may be interested in getting rid of my stock front bar if you have a Cusco 21 or 22mm bar. I also would be interested in your JDM bumper beam in some sort of trade for my USDM one.
Let me know...
EDIT: Just checked out your spec list:
https://www.i-club.com/forums/vbgara...=view&id=12955
...and doesn't appear that you have Cusco sways. How big are your Perrin bars? Also what color is your grounding kit? If it's blue or black...I might be interested in that too.
Thanks!

cool man...I get your drift.
I know these cars are a financial time bomb. EVERY new car is. If you look at an automobile....especially one that you are putting money into as an investment...and it's not a collector car...then it's sad site to look at. Would make me cry if I looke back over the last 7 years how much money I've put into cars and not gotten back out.
but I do see your point..especially with the safety/fines and what not.
I'm pretty careful with how I mod things now. My last car was nothing but trouble because i wasn't. My car is still legal and warrantied...
maybe you should just toss the front mount and go to an APS top mount. Then you'd get your bumper beem and you can keep the car.
But yeah...if you end up with an sti or evo..right on..
I definately see what you're saying about the 2.5's...its too bad the new cars are so damn ugly...I personally think the wagons are nicer than the sedans...and that's not right. And I'm a wagon owner...it's just not right. New sedans are ***** looking.
Either way..>I definately want the front endlinks and we'll talk about the houses. If you need help ripping stuff off let me know.

If I end up picking up a rear sway bar without the mounts, I'll certainly be interested in yours. My grounding kit is red, so I don't think you'll be interested. Of course, I'm not selling it either, so that might be an issue as well.
