I don't really know the difference..... guess I could research it. I thought those were marine batteries or something...least the blue ones.
The Blue top (Marine) is a deep cell, yellow top, that have two extra “screw” top connections in them for marine hook up. They are nice to have if you want to have extra connections onto your car battery. However, they do increase the height clearance and you need to make sure you still have enough room.
I don’t remember what the WRX battery set up is like……….
I use to sell these batteries like two years ago, so I am not so sure on their changes in the last 2 years but when I saw them at SEMA last year, almost everything looked the same.
Personally, I would get a yellow top (or blue top) over a red top just because of the extra benefits, even though in a basic setup you should never need it. A red top can be drained and brought back a few time but you really start to kill it at that point. Where a yellow top can handle several drains and long storage time.

but the sc35a red top is made to fit a car that is a 35 size and that 35 size is what is in a wrx . i am putting a blue top in my wrx down the road it looks good with the samco hoses lol

there is a bit of misinformation in here, all optimas are designed to cycle(be drained completly and recharged)more times then a standard lead acid battery including the red top. in genereall you can cycle a lead acid 50 times optimas 150-200 and deep cycle lead acid 200+ deep cycle optima 300-400 . the height difference between a group 35(stock wrx) and 34 (yellow top)is actually minimal less then half an inch you will have plenty of space especially if you remove your bottm hold down and opt for j-bolts or something similiar. optima does make a blue and yellow top that are similar but they also make a starting blue top that is completly different and cost like 50-80 buck less. so becareful when you try to comparision shop or research the blue top. just a liitle extra info.
