NEW PRODUCT REVIEW -Gruppe-S Light Weight Bumper Beam

Gruppe-S Light Weight Bumper Beam - 02+ WRX

Introductory price - $99.00 + Shipping!!!

We just installed a new bumper beam which we are sourcing from a manufacturer that is making this beam for their intercooler kits. This bumper beam is a direct bolt in for the 02-05 WRX's and 04+ STi. Built from SS304 stainless steel and painted black, the use of this beam saves a whopping 14 LBS off the factory beam!!

Designed to be used with larger intercoolers and oil cooler kits (check fitment first - does not fit all intercoolers w/o cutting), this beam is great for those of you looking for significant weight savings, ease of installation, and chassis rigidity at a great price.

Weighs only 14 lbs as opposed to stock 28.6 lbs. *It is not FMVSS approved and is intended for off-road/race use.

Thanks
Preston

The stock one is probably galvanized steel. We have not tested the OEM white styrofoam on the light weight bumper beam.

doodoobrown - It should but we don't have anyone running it yet so I can't say 100%.

Cheers
Preston

We have not tested them on all FMICs but this bumper beam is designed like the APS one

Thanks

I see... thanks for the response Preston. Any idea if you guys are planning to test fit them on some other fmic's anytime soon? I just wanna make sure I don't have to cut it before I purchase one .

Nope, it is like any other light weight bumper beam on the market used on aftermarket FMICs

TygerStile - It's possible but I doubt it since we don't have access to every FMIC on the market and the time to bolt the FMICs on a test car, etc.

I have no idea what that means. I don't know what other beams would do in a crash. Do they fold like paper?

Well... It is not FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard) approved and is intended for off-road/race use.

I wouldn't say it "folds like paper" but it is a 50% reduction in weight so you can draw your own conclusions

No problem, I was just curious. I may pick one up in a few weeks since I'll be up in the area.

Once the front bumper is off, it takes less than 10 min to remove the bumper beam. 3 bolts on each side
