MY02 WRX Front Bumper Cover Painted Black

I went to Koehler Auto Body in Berkeley to get some paint job done for my '96. The owner Jerry asked me if I know anyone who wants to buy a brand new MY02 WRX front bumper cover painted in black (color code 08V). He said a WRX lady asked the shop to order this bumper and paint it but she ended up not needing the bumper.

Anyway, he said he'll let go of the bumper for a good price. It's just sitting the shop right now. I saw the bumper, it's brand new painted black. They said the color is blue black mica with code 08V. I did see some blue color in there under sun light. I don't know the color well but seems 08V is officially called midnight black pearl. I don't know if midnight black pearl has any blue in there.

If you are interested, you can call Jerry directly at 510-526-1262 to get a price. He said if you want the bumper to be painted to a different color, he can discuss the options. You can mention that Howard referred you to call him.

I just called Jerry to ask what's going on. He said he's trying to sell the bumper for $200 and a new paint job for $200. I told him that's not gonna work.

He said he can sell the bumper as is for $175 but painting would be at least $200 because of material cost and labor.

Heavy Dan, too bad it didn't work out for you. I'm only doing this to help the i-clubbers here cuz it may not be easy for find a good used bumper cover. Personally I was trying to find a used 00-01 RS front cover for 6 months and had no luck. Eventually lost my patience of waiting and bought one from the dealer at $210 (not even primed). So when I saw this bumper, I figured someone may be able to use it. Oh well...

So is this really for a MY02 WRX sedan in 08V Midnight Black Pearl? If it really is and he wants $175, I'll take it. I'll have to remember to call him tomorrow.

ConeHead, you need to confirm the color. Like I indicated earlier, they said the color code is 08V but called it blue black mica, not midnight black pearl. It has some blue color in there so you want to make sure it's the color you want. If midnight black pearl doesn't have any blue, then it might not be the right color.

MBP does have blue in it. Many body shops have not updated their system and are still using blue black mica and MBP interchangebly.

Personally, I think if you can get a great paint job at a shop you trust and with good price, you might want to consider just painting your old one. It's whatever you feel comfortable with...
