My GL is for sale again. MUST GO BY FRIDAY!
THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE GONE BY FRIDAY! MAKE ME AN OFFER!
Yeah, my poor GL is for sale for the 2nd or 3rd time. I keep thinking I need to get rid of it, then I feel guilty and take down the ad. I still don't really NEED to sell it, I'd really rather keep it, but I'm moving to SoCal in mid-September and it's going to be a hassle for me to get the car down there with me. Plus the apartment complex I'm moving into only allows two cars per unit, and with my roommate's car and my WRX, we're at the limit. If it doesn't sell, I'll try to fly under the radar for as long as possible, but anyway. Enough of my sob story.
The car is an '86. It's got 204k miles, SPI engine, 3AT, FWD, power windows, mirrors, sunroof, cruise control. Everything works perfectly as far as I know except for the AC and trip computer. I just haven't had the time or money to retrofit it, but I've been meaning to. I've done a ton of work to the car since I bought it to get it up to my standards. Here's the list. I'll update it as I remember things. All work has been performed in the last thousand miles:
New (used) tranny thanks to WJM
Timing belts
One drive belt (the other one I bought was the wrong size. Keep meaning to replace it.)
Brake pads and rotors
Brake bleed
Tranny/diff fluid
Oil and filter change
Fresh coolant
Plugs/wires/cap/rotor
Fuel/air filters
Fancy red button that does absolutely nothing
Brand new tires
New (used) ignition switch
Battery
New (used) fuel pump
Valve cover gaskets
New exhaust gaskets (head to manifold. The leak was horrendous)
Recently passed CA smog
I know there's more, but I can't remember everything. I also recently spent HOURS tearing apart the entire interior and cleaning every single little piece by hand. It was disgusting, but very worth it. The interior is in fair shape, I'd give it a 7/10 considering the car's age and mileage. The tops of the back seats are faded, and there is a small cigarette burn in the drivers seat, but that's about it.
Since they all have their quirks, here's the bad: The car needs a brake master cylinder. It stops just fine, but the pedal is soft. It's also leaking power steering fluid pretty badly. I was planning on buying a rebuilt rack off eBay if I keep the car. They aren't too expensive. It's also got a torn front left CV boot and it's starting to click a little. I can get you a rebuilt axle for $75 + the old core though. The last thing I can think of is the ECS light comes on when the car warms up, and it begins to idle rough. I can't remember the exact codes, but I think one was EGR related, and one was um...crank sensor? I'd say EGR is a likely candidate, but it runs just fine when it's cold, so maybe not. Also the front bumper is a little tweaked as can be seen in the pics, and the front right corner light is busted. I haven't had time to hunt down a new one since the local junk yard doesn't have any. I took off the luggage rack because I thought it was ugly, and it left some holes in the trunk lid. Luggage rack has been disposed of. Good riddance.
I know there's more to be said about the car, but I think this is enough for now. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's made a wonderful project and daily beater for me for the last year. Here are some not-so-recent pictures, but the car looks exactly the same, if not cleaner now. If anyone is interested, I'll post newer ones, but until then, these will have to do.

This is what, the 2nd or 3rd time I've tried to sell my car here? You'd think I would have learned a long time ago that none of you want my car. Oh well.

did u see? it comes with a complimentary i-club sticker on the back
