I will third how great KHS bikes are. Not only does my company sponsor their XC, BMX, and DH teams we also now sponsor their Cyclocross teams.
KHS makes bikes for a lot of the big brands you are familiar while also offering their own innovations. They pioneered the 650B resurgence.
That being said his bike is going for a song so you should buy it.
