K&N Typhoon short ram -- crinkle red -- barely used

I was planning on doing some 'scientific' dyno testing to see if we could make more power with this intake than what I'm currently running (stocker w/ no silencer and ITG filter), but my MAF sensor wires weren't long enough...... so it didn't fit on my car. First swap "glitch" I've ever had ... the intake is supposed to make a good 12 whp on an otherwise-stock STI.

Anyway I got it from another member who said he put like 2000 miles on it. It's pretty darn clean, any way you cut it.

$180 local. I'm in San Jose. Shoot me a PM or post here if you're interested. Gracias

TTT

$180 should be a great deal for someone. They're $249 new and this one is in excellent, barely-used condition.

No. Sorry. I'm not interested in having an intake on my car. I bought this K&N for test purposes...

I'd happily trade it for $180 though

Jeremy,

I had one of those on my car for a while. Did some some testing myself, no dyno #'s for it specifically. It's biggest downfall is that it's a HAI (Hot Air Intake). The diameter is actually a little smaller, so it richens the AFR. Fortunately, with an RS there is hood vents, but it still can get quite Hot under there. I was getting Intake temps of 135+ degrees just cruising. I put my stock airbox back in with it routed to the bumper, now I get ambient outside temps.

Anyways, it's still a good intake for stock STi's.

Hahahaha thanks for mentioning that in a for sale thread, Adam

I think you need to buy it from me now

Jeremy

If you have a WRX/STI, leave the scoop thing in and route it to an elbow in the fender so it provides fresh air to the heat shield box thing that the intake sits in

Sorry, didn't mean it that way.

Kevin routed a tube from the bumper to the intake area on his STi, it helped lower the intake temperature back to outside ambient. Don't get me wrong the intake does work, it also makes your stock BOV sound like an aftermarket one

can you safely run this intake without a reflash and not worry about fuel mixture issues?

Yes. I was under the impression that the intake piping inner diameter is identical to stock and that it will not affect your A/F ratios, but Adam mentioned above that it might make it slightly richer. If that's the case, that is completely and totally safe.

People have claimed 12 whp increases on otherwise-stock STI's from this intake!
