If the motor is installed and you know someone that can run the smog test just to check it out I'd do it. You'd might be surprised.
I passed with my 97 dx with a port/polished head. Cam. Cam gear. Intake. headers. full AEM fuel system and more. And I didn't do it dirty.
Hell I passed the state ref with the cam/cam gear, heads, headers and cold air intake. Only thing I had to take off was the fuel system as it was clearly not smog legal. Covered the cam gear. Put the timing back to center. All good.
Hell you were allowed like 1 percent or something like that and I got .00001 or some crap. Passed with flying colors.

just go to any mexican ownd smog shop with a 24 of corona and it could be done
