SOLD!
I am the original owner of this 2004 WRX Wagon with 196k miles on the chassis. The engine was replaced at 172K miles and has approximately ~23k miles on it.
I would like to sell the car as-is to someone with more time for a project car, or just someone that wants a fun daily driver. I don't have a good place to do work on my car anymore or the time.
PRICE
$5,000.00 FIRM The new parts in the rebuild cost a few grand more than this, and the car was already there. This is a great deal.
Parting Out
There are a few things that I would be willing to part out. like stuff already off the car.
Stock parts: rear sway bar and mounts, stock wheels, 6-disc stereo, 04/05 headlights, old flywheel, old front axles that need new boots and packing, brake calipers and lines.
Extra Stuff
I still have many of the stock parts. Wheels, turbo/boost tubing, 3 port solenoid, stock solenoid, uppipe/downpipe/axleback. I don't have all the suspension stuff though as it either broke, started leaking, or was taking up space I needed in the garage. I have an entire spare set of brake calipers along with gaskets and seals to rebuild them.
Motor Replacement
The motor was replaced with a brand new factory shortblock and heads purchased from Subaru of Santa Cruz in Summer 2011. All gaskets are OEM except a few things. A friend of mine who is a senior mechanic at Beschoff motors for ~10 years did the rebuild and install.
The car was tuned after the motor replacement and was broken in. Tuned by Ed @ EQ Tuning in Fairfield, CA. its roughly a Stage-2 map running now. Here is the dyno graph. I think this is the most recent one but could be the older one.
The Bad
Aftermarket stuff replaced in 2011.
Stock parts replaced durring 2011 rebuild
Stuff replaced in the past 12-36 months
Stuff replaced/added since owning the car. Mostly in the past 5-6 years

The Bad
- The power steering has a leak. It might be an easy fix (tightening the collar nuts) or a seal is bad in the rack. It's been running and smoking for a while (>1 year) and i'm not dead yet so it will likely stay running fine for a while longer.

- The front driver-side wheel bearing or hub might be going. I replace this once around 110K miles and have another entire knuckle. Just need the bearing and hub pressed in which I could probably help with.
- Occasionally I get a mis-fire. This is most likely due to the two non-OEM coil packs I put in. Last time was Jan 25th 2014(P0303&P0304), before that Sept. 24th 2013 (P0303&P0304), before that, march 21, 2012(P0303&P0304). There were a one or two other times where I didn't log the date and time.
- One of the fog lights is out.
- Hoodscoop paint has chipped away. See photos.
- Leather on left side of steering wheel is worn away. i'm left handed. See photos.
- I auto-crossed this car once a month for 2-3 years. it's been 6 years since i've auto-x'd this car.
- No major crashes but I have taken it on dirt and gravel roads.
- The main gauge cluster has a light out behind the RPM gauge.
- The windshield has a crack in the upper passenger side corner. It has zero impact on your view. It happened shortly after I replaced it.
- i'm on battery #2. The OEM went at 5 years. Current is some heavy thing from Winchester auto they had in stock. It is >5 years old.
Aftermarket stuff replaced in 2011.
- Deatchwerks 565cc injectors
- Exedy Clutch (stage 1 I believe, just a hair over stock strength)
- ACT Streetlite Flywheel (not the lightest, but wont trigger CEL)
- Perrin turbo inlet (black)
- Grimmspeed up/dp gaskets
- GrimmSpeed Phenolic Intake Manifold Spacer (3mm)
- GrimmSpeed TGV to Head Gasket
- STi transmission mount
- Crank pully (Perrin IIRC)
- Walbro 255 fuel pump

The power steering lines were damaged when removing the engine. OEM lines cost around $500. I replaced the lines and fittings using parts from Summit racing following this post: Went rotated? Tired of the stock power steering lines? - NASIOC a few months after the car was tuned, may have even been a year after the build was done I started seeing smoke from under the engine near where the PS lines connect. Hard to get to and I don't have access to a lift to get a better look. The smoke smells nothing like motor oil.
Original transmission. Still shifts as crappy as new. Occasionally to get in to reverse requires double clutching from a forward gear. At least half the miles on the transmission have been run with Swepco 201 80w/90 Transmission Fluid from either LIC or Pelican Parts (online).

In case it matters, I've never been a 1/4 mile kind of guy. I have never done clutch dumps. never even had the car on a 1/4 track. No high speed tracks, just auto-x.
