have the catless version of this. my car is on the cobb stage 3 set up and I don't think I can pass smog (just move from IA, don't know squat about smog). Would going cat'ed DP make it passable? or should I give up hope with a modded car? i'm only asking because i'd be interested in a trade if it will make my car smog legal

Welcome to Cali Raven!! Ive got a HKS cat less most do not like it because it is the flat plate type im running stage 2 and have not had any issues with spike etc,its just really loud with my Tanabe exhaust im trying to tone the car down so it has a nice rumble when i sell it.

In CA, the smog laws are more strict now, they extensively perform the visual inspection now...which includes entering CARB #s to make sure they match to the car model/year.. If they recognize any aftermarket items on the motor, you will instantly fail..I went to 2 smog techs, one failed my car for the downpipe(he was looking for a CARB tag)..another one failed me also for the downpipe, boost gauge tubing, and a non matching[year] CARB sticker on my intake!

Only way to pass smog nowadays is to revert everything back to stock.. or know someone..
