Holy cow! 25mm? You must have very little suspension travel! I'm guessing you don't go offroad.

I came from VWs where they generally have much beefier sways in a similar sized car. I definitely want hollow lightweight sways since upgraded solid sways are heavy enough as is. Hotchkis and COBB were the only game for the Subaru. They only offer 25mm matched combos or I would have gone with a fatter rear. They are also both reputable tuners and that was also important in choosing parts. Cusco was my first choice but they weren't as large diameter as I wanted and also not hollow. Whiteline was my 2nd choice, but I didn't care for yellow accessories. I'm a graphic designer and the parts have to look good as well as perform, plus I have a blue theme going on under the hood and with the suspension.

My thoughts exactly razorlab, thanks...

1badrex, my car has the factory shocks and springs so the suspension travel is no different than any other car from the dealer. The fatter sway bars make it corner more flatly than a car with smaller sways. Hence the name: sway bar. It helps swaying from left to right. Doesn't change the up and down movement much.

And no, I don't go off-roading all that much (except one time at Mt. Ashland in Oregon and it was on an unpaved trail to the summit...not really off-roading). I've since moved to UK 17s with 215/45-17 S-03 tires that aren't that great for off-road anyway.

I'm not sure why so many are surprised by the 25mm hollow bars. They aren't anything new if you've browsed the forums or did web searches for sway bars. Hotchkis and COBB are the two companies that offer hollow bars in that size. Hotchkis offers racing applications even bigger than that (up to 28mm rear I think). My VW before I got a Subaru had aftermarket 25mm front and 28mm rear.

Why? Are you a serious off-roader in your WRX? You need my subframe?

It's just that I noticed since I went with Whiteline 22mm front and rear adjustable swaybars that my rex skips a bit more in the bumpy corners. Personally, I think 25mm would be killer, but I like to go off road a lot and was told by Whiteline not to go with bigger swaybars.

Anyway, I was curious if the '04 subframe is a match for the '02? I have bent my subframe and need a new one. If it is, I definately will would like to make an offer. I'll check it out tomorrow and email you.

Oh, and whiteline does carry silver swaybars. That's what's on my rex.

The reason why you shouldn't go with bigger sways on offroad is because you need independent suspension travel. IIRC you shouldn't have anything bigger than stock and your endlinks shouldn't be solid otherwise they'll snap. Since you're not on flat road and each piece of suspension is going to be moving in their own individual way, the sway bar is going to try and keep evening out your suspension even though it's not on an even road.
