You don't have to These things are functional and yes, the bling bling factor is high. I remember watching from a grocery store one time some plus size lady walking by my car and wacking my mirror backwards with her cart and just walk away without even a second thought. These mirrors will give you the piece of mind from these asstards.

They can be plug and play (+2 extra wires) if you want the wierd angulation.

If you want them to work like the ones on your car right now, you have to swap out the mirror+plastic backing and the part that actually mounts to your car. This mount will need widening of one of the screw holes. Essentially what it comes down to is that you are just swapping out the motor unit. That's what I did and it works just like the USDM mirrors + motorized folding. All the parts you need are on your USDM mirrors right now...just need to put the effort to swap things out. If you take the effort, it is awesome. You can come see the ones on my car in action and again, I can help you with the install as I've done it before and worked out the kinks. Just need to source out the switch.

hmmmm those are nice... so do they close when you turn off your car? or you push the switch as your getting out? neat if you hook it up to your alarm as you arm it.

You have to manually close them with the switch. I imagine if one were handy with wiring that you could hook them up to turn on/off automatically with the ignition or with an alarm system (since you can do that with windows going up/down). One thing I like about the manual system is that if you come into a tight squeeze while driving, I can fold them in and buy me that much more space...and the look on people's faces when I do that is priceless.
