That looks like a well designed product. Would love to see some install videos to get a feel for how everything comes together. The price is very good as well.

Sent you an email. Would definitely be interested in trying out a set and helping spread the word. Glad to see someone trying to knock out the overpriced competition!

Would this fit and Fully support a the weight of a steel hood from the 98-01 Impreza 2.5RS? If it is, I am highly interested and would also be up to help test.

Yes, the only difference is that the shock is shorter.
Give me a call 510 5666740
My buddy's 01 forester takes a shorter shock
I will have the shorter shocks in 3-4 days, if you want to try out a set.
You can even come over and I'll install it so you can be 100% satisfied

The steel hoods are about 55lbs, so what weight are the shocks you are using? I was thinking Id need 40lb each shock? And with the shorter shock body, would it extend higher up than the stock hood prop when fully expanded? Since you are using a 10.2" compressed shock, will the shorter ones be the 9.5" compressed and 15" extended?

40lbs will work I think
The shock will make your hood open a cuple inches wider, I do this so you have more room to work with.
The shock is 15" extended and 5.5" stroke 9.5 compressed
You have a steel hood, do you know what the newer hoods weight?

I took a look under my hood today to do some measurements and plan a mounting position. It looks like my chassis might require a different set up, or some test fitting because I do not want to mount it to the middle bolt, which has a rubber stopper for the hood. I am thinking making it mount one bolt hole back....But if the shock assembly is moved more towards the back, then it will have to withstand a heavier rated weight for the damper.

Steel hood is about 55lbs. The aluminum hoods for 02-07 Impreza is about half of that, So about 25 lbs (with stock hood scoop).
