Turns out it was not so great if a deal. Engine **** a bearing in the first 10 miles. I am sure people will pick apart our startup/breaking methods, but I have personally build several engines and broke in several more that I did not build. None of them blew a bearing or had any issue.
I KNEW I should have pulled it apart and mic'ed everything. When my buddy picked it up it was sitting on the driveway...not wrapped or anything.
Doesn't do much good now, but BUYER BEWARE!!

Ya 3 years later. I wasn't aware professionally built engine had a "shelf life" when stored properly
The engine "freshly rebuilt" by Robs machine was fully assembled upon arrival with fresh parts and sat in my garage for a year on an engine stand. After that it went into the car. We then waiting on a wiring harness and a couple changes in the build plan before we fired up. Ran great, indicating no timing mistake or other issue on our part, until it decided to **** a bearing in typical poor build quality fashion.
But go ahead...laugh like a bunch of little Bay Area pus-sies that you are.
