I have a set of 17" Rota Subzeros with worn (just at wear bar) Sumitomo HTRZII tires in 225/45/17 size. They are black with a hint of brown in them. The wheels are in good shape with no curb rubs but a few scratches. In the below picture, the white specs close to the valve stem are the scratches/chips. Attached is a pic of what I consider the "worst" looking wheel. Most of the paint damage is where the lug nuts go in.

It sounds like the tires are busted *** anyway, and those wheels should run 225/45/17 no problem. My subzeroes did.
