Sold: 2008 STI steering rack - $90
SOLD
Used 2008 STI steering rack for sale with Whiteline bushings, taken off the car at 44k miles, great condition & no issues or leaks with the rack.
I just swapped in a faster rack which is why this one's for sale.
Looking to get it out my garage for $90, PM me if you're interested

Changing the rack was hell, Garage1's brand new location in Campbell didn't have Wifi last week, so i had to walk to Starbucks for their Wifi

But seriously, install went smoothly, took ~3 hours of labor but no major issues, and the new 13:1 rack is teh seks. With the GTSpec wheel its about as close to an Evo as its going to get (thx to wwrx we did a back to back test last week with his Evo10)
Aaron @ Garage1 said he has modified STI racks to fit on other models, but its not a trivial 10min job or anything.you might want to ping him to see if its anything realistic in case you get stuck. I'll even throw in a stock STI steering wheel for ya. [/salespitch]

I've been eyeing the GTSpec wheels. I want one. But until then, my current rubber wheel is just fine.
Interesting that the STi racks can be modded to fit. I may have to look into that.
And another bump for the sale.

Its a good time to also do the bushings & steering rack brace, and get the p/s fluid changed, so those extras can add ~$200 to the total
Not dirt cheap, but i'd say its worth it for the improved feel

I'm not an expert by any means, but talking to some more knowledgeable folks it could be done, but not simple & maybe not cost effective.
Problem is the STI has a wider track than the 2.5i, so while the rack will fit, the steering arms are too long, would need to be changed to the shorter ones from a non-STI model.
Maybe check with your favorite shop & see what they say about the feasibility & cost of the changes.
