The car has always been an automatic. They did not produce too many of them which is why we hardly ever see them. It is actually a very decent and fairly responsive automatic, I cannot even imagine this thing with an upgraded valve body and torque converter

4eat guy checking in here! Stock for stock from a dig they are faster than a 5mt too.

55/45 rear bias torque split n no power loss thru shifts. I want the jdm sportshift tho

do you know if the auto can handle the power of your set up on a c16 fuel map tune. thanks.

I am not to sure if a STOCK auto with the c16 fuel would be able to hold, it would be pushing the limit at that point. However, IPT sells a clutch pack kit and valvebody and there are people running over 600hp and running 9sec quarter miles without any problems.

The 4eat is a lot more stout than the 5mt so power levels can exceed upwards easily.

The valve body and clutch packs/new solenoids are all you would need for more power. Possibly a matched torque converter too.

Valve Body:

Stock Valve Body: Shifts slower and can be sometimes sluggish.
Built Valve Body: More aggressive firm and faster shifts.

Torque Converter:

Stock: Cannot Brake Boost high
High Stall: Can Brake Boost higher
