FS: 2001 Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan 5sp BRP SOLD!
SOLD as of 02/13/2006!
Hi there,
The time has come to sell my beloved 2001 2.5 RS. I would like to keep this car but I just bought an STI so I have to part with it. I don't have to sell this car immediately so I won't negotiate too much on the selling price.
This is a LONG thread since I want to disclose EVERYTHING about the car to the prospective buyer. I'm not into cheating people and I hope you aren't either. ^_^
Here's the basic facts:
2001 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS Sedan 5 speed manual Blue Ridge Pearl
77753 miles
VIN: JF1GC67551G502267
Kelly's Bluebook states this car is worth $9,930. Edmonds.com states this car is worth $10,259. I would rate this car in "Good Condition".
So any offers in that range will be accepted. Please no low ballers. For people looking for a "deal", the deal here is getting a rare Subaru body type in good condition at a Blue Book price. I'm not greedy so I'm not gonna jack up the price. I just want the Blue Book value for it. ^_^
I am the second owner.
Car is physically in Morgan Hill, Ca, 95037.
My bank has the lien on this car. So you will be making a Cashier's Check to them, not me.
I can only schedule test drives on the weekends. Test drives will require you bringing and showing me at least $500 in cash in hand as a possible deposit on the car. This is so I know you're serious about buying the car. I'm not going to give test drives to people who aren't serious about buying the car. Deposits towards the sale will be non-refundable and I will write you up a receipt stating you have one week to come up with the funds, and when that week expires the car goes back onto the market for sale to somebody else if you haven't paid by then.
Smog test passed recently. Ready to sell.

Pros:
The engine has no leaks.
I just payed for the registration tag. Good till 02/14/2007.
The car has been dealer maintained while I've owned it. I have the receipts to prove it.
The car has 6yr / 80k mile Gold Plus Added Security Warranty with $50 deductable. (Started: 02/13/2001 Expires: 02/21/2007) So you'll be getting 2,000 more miles under warranty if we fill out a "warranty transfer form" at the dealership. Your fee for that is $35 payable to Subaru of America.
A new stock clutch was installed at 59578 miles.
An alignment was done at 74315 miles.
Comes with new Falken FK-451 tires installed at 72306 miles.
The car has the Premium sound factory option.
It has an alarm.
It has a factory keyless entry system.
It has a dealer installed trunk light.
The car has no modifications.
It has the factory armrest extension.
I never raced this car, if I was a racer this car would've been heavily modified by now. It's still all stock.
Cons:
-Tranny is crunching during gear shifts and I believe the reason is the 4th and 5th synchro are getting worn. When shifting from 3rd to 4th above 4,000 RPMs you may get a gear crunch. When shifting from 4th to 5th above 4,000 RPMs you may get a gear crunch. When downshifting from 5th to 4th above 2,000 RPMs you may get a crunch. This crunching comes and goes day to day. When the weather's cold it crunches less. It crunches more when the weather is hot. Trying to "speed shift" and you'll most likely get a crunch. I try to avoid these crunching causing senarios when I was driving it.
I took it to Santa Cruz Subaru at 70994 miles and they said that SOA probably wouldn't cover it under warranty since the problem isn't severe enough. You'll be getting 2,000 more miles of the extended warrranty so if you have a good relationship with your dealership maybe you can convince them better than I.
So please come and do a test drive to know what I'm talking about.
-The first owner of the car was in an accident on 08/18/2001, at 11211 miles. It was hit on the front right side. The shop replaced the front right lights, the bumper cover, and repaired the right fender. Total cost of repairs were a little over $1300. I have the Geico Insurance paperwork on that incident. The car was repaired and handles fine. There is evidence of the accident though.
Infamous Subaru clutch shudder when you start it up in the morning. I goes away after a few blocks.
Headlights flicker sometimes when turn signal is engaged. I bought a low end battery when my factory one died so I think that's the cause.
Rear passenger interior door panel marks.
Small seat tear in rear seat. (2 inches~)
Various small dings and dimples.
A scratch under the spoiler.
Small paint chips here and there.
No under engine protector.
Front passenger window has a small scrape on it.
