Free anything? s*** race me there or it's going towards my 6 speed piggy bank
I was actually going to use it for a project. In my eyes if something is free given out by the community it should be given out as free if the person who picks it up doesn't need it.

If I buy something, and get it for cheap, if I sell on CL I ask for money on top, but if it's within a community I sell it for no profit. Maybe that's just me.

I bought a downpipe on craigslist for 40 bucks and sold it on nasioc for 150. Does that make me a bad person because I saw an oppertunity to make money? Do you think the vendors here in our community sell stuff at cost? If they did they wouldnt be in business for very long.

No everyone is blessed with a good job and to some people flipping cars and car parts is a job. Not to be mistaked for ripping someone off.

If he was selling the hood for 500 or 600 bucks then that would be questionable.

But he picked up a hood for free. Put some elbow grease into it and took the time to post it for sale and will probably sell it....like I said. Dont feel hurt that you missed out on the oppertunity to use it for a project. Feel good for the OP that he got it out of his garage!

Edited to update: you are a good person for being the one to offer things at no profit and I hope to deal with you in the classifieds!

I don't feel hurt. I just feel like in a community those are the unspoken rules. I've made a thread about buying and selling on a forum. I think this subject kind of pertains to that.

In my opinion when you join a community like i-club, you want to help the community, because the community helps you. You get DIYs, free help, and sometimes free parts. But what I don't agree with is taking from the community, and not giving back.

Like my transactions on i-club where people said items were in a certain condition. Then me finding out otherwise with no offer to make it right. That to me is taking from the community. Using a community where people have greater trust in each other to sell things and abusing that trust.

Anyways, it's just a difference in opinion. If I ever gave away something for free, and knew multiple wanted it. I would give it to the person that contacted me first, and needed it. That's just me. If I found out he was selling it I would be inclined to ask for it back. Knowing that other people could use it more than him.

In effect, by taking up the free hood and selling it for $200, you are saying making $200 is more important than someone using the hood. I don't think that's right. I'll say it again. DIFFERENCE IN OPINION, we can agree to disagree.

I see nothing wrong with buying and reselling anything on CL, or NASIOC (I don't feel the community on that forum). But on i-club? People are cool.

I agree completely. But is he reselling it on nasioc? No. He listed it on craigslist. I am a big supporter in helping people out....
I offer stuff for trade and sometimes for free. Also like to point people to the right threads so they can find good deals.

Im not saying you are wrong. But obviouslt the op did not knpw he was selling it and obviously he was in contact with him first and not you.

You win some you lose some.....sounds to me like you are kind of upset which you shouldnt be....buy the hood for 200 bucks if u need it cause thats the cheapest one ive seen so far!

And I agree I just bought a "genuine subaru water pump" on nasioc from a member with 150 positive feedbacks. He sent me a gates in an oem box. So I feel you there on getting taken advantage of and not giving back to the community.

I think anyone who buys or sells parts is giving to the community in some way.....

Let me rephrase. I am not upset I did not get the hood. I am upset he is selling the hood when I feel others in this community may need it more (myself not included).

I feel people take away from the community if they are not truthful / honorable. The next transaction I make I may or may not subconsciously be less trustworthy because of getting jipped / lied to. When more and more of this happens the community suffers.

Well I dont really see anyone else saying anything about it other than you.

And hes not being untruthful or dishonest one bit...so I really still dont see your point.

And I also dont see the hood for sale on iclub. So good luck thinking this guy is taking away from the community.

Im sure OP would not have given it to him if he was truely worried about the guy reselling it....but he is not worried.....so he did.....
First come first serve.

That is all. Thank you very much.

Agree to disagree.

I wasn't calling him untruthful or dishonest. I was just talking about other transactions I've had on here. Bringing them up to further my point about taking from the community without giving back. I am not assuming the OP is okay or is not okay with him selling the hood he got for free.

Like i said before, taking something for free when others in the community may need it more is taking from the community in my opinion. If you disagree that's fine. If you can't see what I'm trying to say then that's not my problem. You are right, OP may or may not have a problem with him selling it. I'm not going to assume anything. If he didn't, that's the OP's choice.

Differing opinions leave it at that.

If you want to talk about this further you can PM me. We have differing opinions. The only reason I have posted on this thread was to increase awareness on the effect personal actions have on i-club as a community. Not only in this instance in specific because I don't know all the details, but in general on classifieds transactions.

Hey man, I really didnt mean any harm. I was in the area and helped the op get it out of his parents garage.

The small cash I make repairing/fixin up/flipping anything always comes back to iclub. Whether it be turbos, decapping and matching injector sets, or fixin mechanics specials. I buy many parts for my bug and really have met some cool people, helped people out, and hooked people up with deals.

200 obo on craigslist realistically means $100 bucks or so.. Still a great deal.

I make 15 bucks an hour doing tires and brakes and am not old enough for a credit card and love tinkering with my car so I look for ways to make some car money.

This being said I was/still am actually looking at buying a salvage 08+ wrx off copart or iaa to fix up. Most of which have basic front end damage.

No thanks. Thanks for the offer though.
The above post makes my point very clear. The money gets back to the community or a subaru owners car anyways. Which I see nothing wrong with even more so.......
