You just have to make sure all your fluids are in good shape, your spark plugs are relatively fresh, and the car is in otherwise good mechanical condition (no leaks, exhaust leaks, boost leaks, etc).

Thanks

I am thinking about swapping out my Vishnu 3" single-tip turbo-back for a 3" Stromung twin-tip turbo-back. Both catted, but my Vishnu cat has had issues and the system is around 10yrs old at this point. I plan to have it re-tuned, but would this be as soon as possible, or as soon as practical? Also, I have put almost 10k miles on my car in this "safety tune" so it's probably due for a revisit anyway. I meant to have my suspension done and a few other things by now but the car has had other plans for me. Going to get a compression/leakdown test and new plugs before any of this though.

Definitely a good idea to swap out a 10y/o cat like that. Let me know when you're ready for it and we'll take care of you.

Thanks

My set-up is AEM intake, invidia catless downpipe, Perrin turbo inlet hose waiting to be installed. id also like to run E-85, so ill be ordering fuel pump and injectors. do you recommend 1000cc or higher injectors. all this is running stock turbo but i have plans to run blouch dominator 1.5xtr 8cm after i get the motor built. 2012 STI.

Thanks in advance.

I would definitely recommend an MBC for an EWG. EWG's with EBCS sound horrible IMO because you can hear every pulse of the solenoid... it really makes the car sound broken. With an MBC you just get a nice even, aggressive growl from the wastegate. ID1000's are a good choice for injectors for E85.

Thanks

Yeah, but it looks like it's going to be a bit more $$ than I originally thought, so probably have to wait on it a bit. Hoping to find an '06 STi box and didn't really see any less than $3k plus shipping in my searching. I had thought of doing JDM STi 5spd gears, but I picked up a commuter to get me by so my WRX isn't always an emergency. This way the time can be taken to do it right.

Just tough timing. Our daughters are close to the same age, and mine has a little brother now.

Ah sounds good. Definitely best to wait and do it right.
