Hey everyone. I have 4 red eared sliders. 3 male and 1 female. They all have been takin very good care of. My wife and I just dont have the time for them anymore. Our son is getting older almost a year and a half now and it is just too much to to take care of him, and 2 dogs let alone 4 turtles.
I wanted to keep them mainly because i thought it would be nice for my son to learn responsibility when he grew up plus they are just really fun to watch.
BUt in this stage of our lives cleaning tanks out once a week just is too much right now.
The female is freaking huge. Her shell is almost the size of a frisbie. The smallest male his shell is maybe the size of a deck of cards. One of the males doesnt get along with the other 2 so he is usually seperated to his own part of the tank. I may just have to give him to reptile rescue. The smallest turtle and the female have to go together so if you want one you have to take the other. They have been together the longest and last time I seperated them neither ate til i put them back together. He will sit on her back when the sun bathe and sleep together under the water at night
They will eat from your hands if you want. I usually do this with chicken, not seasoned or anything. or tuna. hell they will eat sliced hot dogs too. They chase down tiny fish but we did have them with a big *** algae eater (pleco) and they never bothered him.
Let me know. I dont wanna sell them I just want them to go to a good home.
I have a mega huge floating dock i will give with them. I will give you my water heater too. I also have a floating log they like to sun bathe on as well. I have a UVA/UVB light and sun bulb and a timer so their light cycles are accurate. And i have a huge thing of pellets we just bought the other day. SO we pretty much will give everything but the tank to whoever can care for them. They were kept in a 75 gallon tank so i would recommend having this size or larger if you do take them.
PM me or leave messages here if interested.
I would recommend you have a female turtle or 5 females. lol
j/k but i wont give him to anyone that has other males unless you really hate the other males and want them dead. He is sweet as pie to the female turtles but he will literally rip the head off the other ones. He doesnt bite me he eats from my hand like a baby turtle but he is just too aggressive to have other male turtles around in the same tank.
Oh yeah I forgot.
Just for kicks here are the names of the other turtles.
My wife and I are crazy and we have theme names for all the pets.
The turtles Seasame Street
Female: Big Bird (cuz she is huge)
2 smaller male turtles Elmo and Ernie
Bigger Male: Oscar (the grouch bastard)
The birds: Apollo and Calypso (Mythology junk my wife decided)
The frogs Jim, Jack (well jackie cuz she is female), Jose, and Captain Morgan (cuz he was born with one eye)
Dogs: Kiko'o and Lilo (Hawaiian??? thats what the wife told me.) anyone from HIIC verify? I wanted sex again at some point in my marriage so i submitted and let her name the damn dogs.

You just change the water when the water's dirty and give them food every day ...
I can't understand why the OP has time for 2 dogs and yet no time to do THAT. Poor turtles
Whoever takes them please take them all and don't seperate them

Dude you have no idea how much of a pain the can be sometimes. they can take some time. the dogs **** outside these guys **** in a tank you have to keep clean alot. ph of water, salinity is a *****. feeding them real food like fish, crickets, chicken. plus it is a huge tank and cleaning 75 gallons of water is a huge pain to string the hose across the house. the dogs go outside, dump food in the bowl and they are good. and fill a 5 gallon bucket of water for them and they are golden. plus they swim in the pool so no reason for a bath.

I'm interested, but I only have the capacity to take care of one. I have one female red slider in a 20gl tank. If you are willing to separate, I can provide a comfy home for him. Please let me know. Thanks.
