And yes, there are warranties that cover tire replacement due to wear within a certain range. For example, Michelin Pilot Super Sport is manufacturer warrantied for tread life to "6 Years / 30,000 Miles". There are also uniformity of wear warranty, worksmanship/material warranty, and sometimes a "special warranty" as well.

Haha that's why I said most only cover defects...and working at a tire shop in the bayview, we didn't sell to many michelin tires haha so didn't know about that specific one
I'm assuming the PSS warranty only applies to street driven tires? Auto-x or track can run a tire down very quickly haha

Almost right. Tire warranties really don't work like that - it's span is for the lifetime of the tire, not your lifetime or that of the car.

Also almost right...
Tire manufacturers warranties like the one you mentioned above cover manufacturer defects for that period. Meaning if you blow a tire out after year 5 you are going to have to somehow prove your case that it was a manufacturer defect that caused the failure.
The warranties that the actual tire shop sells (Big O, Americas tires, firestone ect) are prorated to tread depth.
Interesting to note that out of all of the tire places that offer road hazard warranties, Firestone is the only one that I have gotten to extend that prorated warranty on the other 3 tires if the new tire will have more than 1/32nd tread depth difference compared to the other three.
Subaru specifically states that you should not run tires with different amounts of wear but most all of the other tire places dont care and will not let you pay the pro-rated difference on the other 3 perfectly good tires that need to be replaced also.
Sorry for getting off topic.

It should cover nail damage, etc... usually with a prorating based on mileage.
