2.0L WRX Short block and bare heads

SOLD!

Assembled Short block with 174k miles.
bare heads in good condition. 174k miles.

by bare heads that means no cams, buckets, valves, springs, retainers.

this motor was burning oil due to failed rings on the infamous #3 cylinder (closest to turbo). the plug was wet as was the cylinder.

I didn't know what caused the oil burn and wanted to start as fresh as possible hence putting in a brand new short block and heads.

i'll try to get some photos posted soon of the short block and heads.

The machine shop (mid county auto) that did the valve job and lashing on the new heads from the head components said the heads looked very clean and would be great cores for a rebuild. I did not have them vacum tested so you would need to do this to be certain OEM valves would fit. probably not an issue if you are going to do a full PNP and increase valve size.

I have no idea what these parts go for used so throw out some reasonable offers. These parts cost $3100 new.

if you don't know what these parts are, then please don't waste my time. i'm not going to help you build your 2.xL stroker or anything, I just want to get these parts out of my garage.

Post here and PM me if you're serious.

..Matt

Not meaning to be a Negative Nancy, but I'd bet that the heads have cracks in the spark plug holes.

On used heads with a considerable amount of miles, plug hole cracks seem to be as common as wastegate cracks on vf turbos, right?

I've got a used set which I was gonna cnc to ej257 spec and was bummed when a crack in the plug hole screwed that option. Don't mean to hijack. Just check out your heads to save time and complaints. A buyer is gonna be bummed if they later discover even a tiny crack and ask for a refund

Hi Paul, no offense take. After your last comment in my build thread I specifically asked the shop about this since they do all of the machine work and motor assemblies for the Santa Cruz dealership.
The heads were not vacuum tested but he said they looked to be in very good shape and did not see any cracks.

short block and heads potentially sold.

@JAC Wagon - if I end up selling this short block give the BA shops like EQ Tuning a call. i'm sure they have some old 2.0L short blocks laying around. EQ does a lot of those hybrid swaps so I would bet Ed has a pile of them at the shop.
