No it will not power an amp. It could power a radar detector so you could hardwire it. It could power a phone charger, so you could hardwire it.

Just a side note.. which should be able to go unsaid, but just to be safe: be careful when hardwiring components! Many of the 12v cig plugs have a regulator circuit of some sort in them to achieve the necessary wattage. Without this, you can have too much current or voltage and blow something. Use a multimeter to check the specifications before turning it on.

Good advice! The charging system can achieve higher than 12volts so make sure you know what your doing before hardwiring anything!
