Car Info: Still Pending :(
Well, hello all.

Hello everyone. I'm going to be trying to get an '05 WRX soon. I would love to get an STi but I just don't know if I will be able to fit it in my budget. I don't plan on modding the car too much. Down/Up pipes, exhaust, intake, and the AccessPORT. That's pretty much all I have planned power wise. How much power do you think I could squeeze out of those mods?

Now, I'm trying to do my research before I buy a car. Are there any big problems that I need to check for? The only bad thing I've heard about WRX's is that the transmission is kind of weak. Other then that I don't hear anything but good about them.

I'm not a complete nooby when it comes to these things, I used to have an Acura Integra that I put a turbo kit on. It's been a long time since I had a fun car to play with though and I think a WRX is just what I'm looking for.

Hi and Welcome to i-Club.
You should seriously consider a Subaru WRX they are excellent
vehicles to own and you will not regret purchasing one.
My WRX has ran perfect for the 60K I have owned it and
if you do your complete 30K mile services, engine oil changes,
air filter changes etc. your car will last a very long time.
A Subaru STi is not in everyones' budget but,the Subaru WRX
is a great compromise between the two.
As for the transmission failure on the WRX's.It is not a common
problem with these vehicles and the majority of people that this
happens to are people how don't know how to shift properly,
abuse or power shift there transmissions, and are making too much
horsepower/torque on there WRX's than the transmission can handle.
With the mods you listed that you plan on doing to your WRX
you will not see any problems.I subjest that you make sure all the
body lines match up and the vehicle was never in a car accident
by getting a carfax report.A 05 WRX would be a good Subaru to
buy just check it over before you purchase it or take it to your
mechanic to have him look at it.Happy Subaru shopping though!
