Question overboost problem

I recently found out that the restrictor pill in one of those vacuum hose near the wastegate is missing and then found a restrictor and installed it. Now the boost gauge is reading 20 psi of boost pressure. My car is a version 5 STI running the ej207 engine. Could this boost pressure damage the engine or anything? or is it safe to run in this condition? (my car doesn't have any mods on it.) And if its safe, is that amount of boost on a non modified engine is efficient? Thanks.
