Newbie, asking some general questions

I wanted to get a 06-07' wrx but I'm only 17 so finding one under 17k is pretty hard to find, so under my will I started looking at the 04-05's and I like them but my question is what's the differences between the 04's and the 05's, and should I just wait to save money for a 06' or 07'. The 2007 are my favorite but I can't find any cheap around here.

Thanks!

2004 has a different center console and steering wheel then the 2005-2007, if you like to use cup holders, 2005-07 is a better design.

From the factory the 2004-2005 came with 16" wheels and smaller front brakes, while the 2006-07 came with 17"s and slightly bigger brakes.

All four years came with the same transmissions options.

Over the years the paint color have changed, but mostly in different shades.

2005-2006 had more Red cars made then 07 and in 2004 it was a pretty limited color.
World Rally Blue was available all model years.
while black, white, and silver were available all years, it changed shades for example white went from being a pure gloss white to a metallic pearl.

2006 - 2007 had the "limited" option available, which means a sun roof and leather interior

06-07 also came in as the WRX TR edition, which pretty much was a base model Impreza with the turbo motor.

Just trying to let him be as informed of a consumer as possible. As a Bug Eye guy, I'm surprised I could remember all that myself...

+1 haha

I am a bug eye guy and didnt pay attention to the cars after. I really noticed the interior was better after ours. I mean come on the one cup holder by the e brake handle is useless!!!! It holds my knick nacks

other than that they are the best ones subaru ever made

Maybe we should try to convince Nickraft14 to get a Bug-Eye (2002-03 model year)

Nickraft14, so you know, Bug-Eye Imprexa guys are a quarky group within the whole Impreza umbrella. More likely to keep their cars and will defend all it's issues as elements that give the car personality. I'd should probably also mention you can get a decent one for under 8k now.

Yes this is 100% spot on. Some say it has the worst aerodynamics, but it is also not cross eyed like the 04-05. It is not shifty eye ed like the 06-07. They are the rare unicorn and there are less of them on the road. Go to a meet and see

I hear they also get the favorable call when its a border line case of breaking a forum rule its called "turning the bug eye"

I am on 180K miles original motor and clutch I think I am going to make a race car out of it. Never going to give it up. They will bury me in this car.

Thanks guys for the fast replies, the only reason why I don't want 02-03 is because all the ones around here for sale have like 180k miles on them there's a subby tuning place about 10 minutes from my house so I go up there every now an than and I really like the 06-07's but like I said I can't find Any cheap around here

another thing to consider is the 2.5 are notorious for headgasket issues. the 2.0 in my opinion is a more solid built motor, yes you loose some hp but thee 2.0 are not as tempermental for headgaskets issues. Also, buying a 2.0 makes it easier to do a hybrid swap, which would smash on any 06-07 wrx and put you in sti range for hp. my 2 cents on the issue
