New to the subie world
Just arranged the purchase of a '96 impreza 4dr w/ the 2.0 (i think). Getting it dirt cheap because I'm a friend of the family that owns it. Car is in good condition, but the engine has almost 200k on it. Don't know if i plan on doing much to it, but always looking to learn. Did some searches on google and found this forum, seems to be a lot of good info here. Looking forward to learning

ah 2.2 then, i knew it was 2.something. Never owned a subie before, had an old mazda protege, didnt do much to it. I've helped a lot of friends mod their cars (bolt on N/A stuff), but I spent most of my first years working on older muscle cars. Hoping to learn lots here!
well i dont have any plans for anything yet, but from what i've read so far, the 2.2 is basically not worth modding...am i correct? but it seems an ej25 upgrade would be worthwhile and they look relatively cheap. if i went that route, it'd be next year. the only trick is finding a wrecked subie w/ an intact motor and 5spd(car is currently auto, that will drive me crazy for a while).
i read the 2.5 can be run off the 2.2 ecu, but at a loss of power / economy, obviously, but i would rather swap harnesses too, if I'm going to be upgrading the motor. I dont want to make compromises on the power, if the sole purpose of the swap is more power, lol.
