Cool New to the site and a new 03 2.5RS

Hey guys,

I'm from Idaho Falls but am originally from the east bay area and I just bought my first Subaru in Boise five days ago. It's an 03 2.5rs with 200,000 miles on it. Holy miles right?!? I don't know much about the n/a models of Imprezas so the next few years will definitely be a learning expirience but I have always loved the brute sound and power from these boxers. The previous owner was the 2nd and didn't take very good care of it and I plan on making this thing fast and clean.

I have always been really into cars, since I was about 10. I currently work for O'Reilly Auto Parts and also have a 04 Honda Civic (wifes car) and an 82 Porsche 911 (the track car). Guess I have a thing for bug eyes.

Any advice right off the bat for a new subie owner???

Welcome, if the last owner did not do much upkeep you should defiantly do a full service with timing belt!

timing, always use OE genuine subaru coolant, 3-4.5k oil changes. i bought my 02 RS at 180,000 miles and recently blew its headgaskets at 260,000. 80k of fun is fine by me. just finished rebuilding my entire long block and just dropped the engine back in. but now it wont turn over ;( have fun with ur RS! dont let anyone tell u its not a subaru because it doesnt have a turbo. that AWD will still keep a big smile on ur face and like u said, pick up some UEL (unequal length) headers for that boxer rumble!

First thing to me is find a good Subie mechanic Then check for all the "normal leaks". Those will give you a good idea of what was done and what wasn't quite often. Anyone who says leaks are normal on a Subaru does not do proper maintenance. Change all the important fluids including diffs.

HG is just starting to go on my 97 OBS with 230Kmi on the clock.
