Hey whats up, I bought a brand new 07' STI last month.

I have been reading thru the forums and learned some stuff that I wanted to know but would still like some more advice.

First off I noticed that it's a bad idea to intake so that is out of the picture, as far as exhaust goes anything that is cat back is safe to do right? I know for sure i'm going to do the exhaust and soon hopefuly. Should I get bolt on or does it matter? What exhaust is best? I want a nice deep tone with good performance.

Second.. Blow off valves, is it even worth it? It's like people say they are good and others say they are bad... As far as I know they help release the rest of the air that is left in the turbine correct?

Third.. Turbo timers, another thing on if it is worth it or not??

What are some good upgrades I should do to start my car off that will help a little with performance? I mean money is not really a problem, i'll just get one thing then anther as time goes by. If i'm going to put money into the car I want to put it in for good quality products.

As far as tuning it, I see that the Cobb is the way to go?

Now, other then upgrades and what not I had some other questions about the car. These stock brakes seem really horrible. My lightning stopped better then the car and the brakes even squeal really bad. That is a normal right?

When I turn there is a weird noise coming from the front, I cant tell what exactly it is or where it is coming from either. Anyone else have this issue?

When I first bought the car I was messing around, never really redlined it or anything but was going faster then I should have before break in. I know cars are meant to be broken in before smashing on them. My friend told my you can "retard" the engine. What are some signs that I should look for if I did manage to do that? I dont think I actually did but I want to be sure I didnt.

Anyways, thanks for takin the time and reading and for your help.

1. Intakes aren't all that bad.
2. BOV's aren't a good idea.
3. Turbo timer is unneccessary, but cool and doesn't hurt your car.

Your STi Brembos should stop with a quickness. If you aren't satisfied, consider some stainless steel brakelines, brake fluid, and some nice pads.

As for the noise... did you buy this car used?

As for break in, a good break in is key. Hard or soft depends on who you talk to.

1. Intakes aren't that bad, as long as you get a tune with it. Shouldn't run it for long amount of time.
2. BOV's: Your stock BOV is more than enough for some aftermarket turbo applications... So... you are kind of wasting money if you decide to go buy one. If you want that psssshhhh sound, install an intake.
3. What Steven said.

Brembo's, maybe you should have your brakes checked out. Take it to one of the I-Club vendors.

No, I bought the car brand new.

I took the car in yesterday to get a break in oil change and had them look at the brakes and stuff, they said they are all fine.

As to the brake question, I know exactly what you are talking about. Came from an e90 330i that had fantastic breaking and pedal feel. The 07 STIs breaking is awsome, the pedal feel is less than perfect. My next mod is some stainless brake lines and performance fluid, hopefully that cures the lack of brake pedal feel.
