new guy in monterey
hey whats going on, names james, prior mechanic, before the military.
im stationed up here on DLI, and holy **** do i need to meet some car guys.
i was part of a big car community in Nashville and being without a car and a car community for close to a year has really left me feeling out of place and out to dry.
my recent cars/trucks/jeep/bike
1995 s14
1991 e30
1987 ae86
two eg hondas (93 coupe and 95 sedan)
mustang
99 eclipse
1998 cbr600
1985 cj7
1989 f150
2001 dakota
i think thats it.
needless to say id never had AWD and i felt it was due time to give it a try
so i did some research, ive seen alot of the usual wrx's and sti's and even a
few rs25's (which by the way, i want one bad enough to kill for it, so let me know lol)
so all in all i decided i wanted to do something wagon style, (room for dogs,
wheels and parts)
and it would be my hauler and DD, but its going to be built a little and i also knew i wanted somewhat of a lego that can use parts from almost every model of subaru, so i found it.
a 2000 forester s 5spd (of course) and its my current toy, recently ive just dropped a 1000+ or so in maintenance, just parts and had to take it to a shop, because i dont have the proper tools or place, got all the seals, gasket (except for the head gasket) and timing belts, idlers tensioner, plugs wires brakes .... etc, all that stuff that should have been done but probably wasnt.
the car has 138xxx miles on it and runs great.
my goal while im here is to mainly just to pay it off, and do suspension work, and after thats all good and its good and stable and low, i want to make a measley 250hp, nothing big. the ej251 open block can handle 300-350 pretty easily, but i dont want it. i want to get a closed block ej, and build that to throw in my rs25 eventually
sorry for such a long intro, just thought a little info was needed.
i will post pic's after work.

Most of the parts I replaced and refreshed lol
More on the way.

I know she's bare stock, and I love it, such a clean platform to start on, not worrying about someone else's crap mods or halfassery
This is also why I need suspension, anyone?

My buddies 79 dl1600 subie

Jeremy Clarkson would be proud

Nope now you will just have to worry about your own halfasserey!!! But seriously...(Serious face)... I will help you. When i was working in construction we had a saying for our company. We might not do good work... But we are slow...
