Looking for 05 sti

Hi everyone. I'm going for my loan in a couple weeks and am looking for a 2005 sti. Color prefence in order is white, black or blue. If anyone knows of any dealerships or websites I can find one I would really appreciate that. I am willing to take a flight out for the right deal. Now that I'm actually looking for one I can't seem to find one. Thanks in advance.

Well you should probably secure your financing before you waste a bunch of your time and others time. Plus this will also give you a ball park idea of what you can spend.

You also need to consider how many miles, history, number of owners, etc because all this determines the price of an STI. Be prepared to pay a little more for an 05, its arguably the most desired year and you will see that in peoples prices on lower mileage nice 05s. I recently just got done looking for an STI and it took me about 2 months to find one. You will be looking at anywhere between $15,000 - $23,000 depending on the above details. Aspen White is also a "premium" color and usually is reflected in the price. Obsidean Black Pearl is usually beat to hell at this point in the cars life. Blue i cant comment on as ive never owned it and personally dont like it.

I almost went and looked at this one but found another one that i was more interested in. It is low mileage for an 05, in the pictures the paint looks well cared for, do your research and know what to look for in a used STI (people like to mod them):

There has been this one too but i bet it is pretty thrashed on the outside and its pretty high mileage but it is also very low priced:

This one just popped up. Its AW which is what you want but has a lot of parts done to it, and the fact that the motor was rebuild leads me to believe that it was either heavily modded and the motor couldnt take it or the person starved it of oil. New motors are good or bad, really depends who and how it was rebuilt. Personally i think its a bit over priced.

For reference i just bought a CGM 2005 STI with 59k for $21k. It only had two owners, first of which was an old man that kept it stock and put 48k on it. Second owner barely drove it in the 3 years he owned it. Never had an accident or body work, clean carfax, and all the work was done by Paul at FW Motorsports (well known subi shop). Also come with Cobb Stage 2, Tanabe Springs, brand new tires, car cover, all stock parts. Was always garaged. That should give you a benchmark.

Be patient and wait for the car you want.

Hope that helps.

No worries, it was late when i wrote it. Assumed you were local to me. Check CL, watch these forums (i-club, iwsti, NASIOC), i would steer away from eBay, and dealerships usually overprice 05 STI's. Private party is your best bet.

05's tend to eat oil and if you dont check it you can starve the motor and lead to motor failure. If looking at a modified STI it would be wise of you to pay for a leak down and compression test. Make sure if the car has an intake or anything more then a cat-back that it was running off a tune. If not it could have been running lean or rich again hurting the motor. People love to modify STIs so keep that in mind and make sure it was done right if you go that route.

If you find a car, see if someone on the forums knows the person or has seen the car so you can get some personal, non-biased, in sight about it.

Happy hunting!
